Top Hezbollah Official Pleads for Restraint as Regional Confrontation Teeters on Brink of Chaos

Against the backdrop of the wave of expansion of ground maneuvers in Lebanon and the assassinations of the vast majority of Hezbollah’s top brass, Naim Kassem, Hassan Nasrallah’s deputy, spoke this morning (Tuesday) from his hiding place and stated that the fighting against Israel will continue with the aim of continuing to help Gaza: “The longer the war continues, the situation Israel’s hardship will increase.”

At the beginning of the speech he referred to the assassination of Nasrallah and lamented the death of the organization’s leader. He then referred to the surprise attack on Israel on October 7 that “the Al-Aqsa flood is an extraordinary event and the beginning of a change in the face of the Middle East.”

Kassem attacked the USA and said that “without American support, the Israeli aggression would have stopped within a month. Lebanon was a target and Netanyahu repeatedly declared that he wanted a new Middle East.” According to him, “History has proven that the Zionist entity is dangerous to the region and the world. Israel wants to subject all the countries around it and the peoples of the region to its policy.”

Regarding the fact that Hezbollah joined the attack on Israel, he said: “We announced the support front in Lebanon to help in the conflict, to relieve Gaza and support its victory.” At the same time, Kassem said that he and Hezbollah support the efforts of the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament to reach a ceasefire discussion in the country.

Although most of Hezbollah’s top brass was eliminated, the IDF entered Lebanon on the ground and attacked extensively in the country, he denied that the terrorist organization was harmed: “The resistance capabilities are fine and were not affected by the enemy’s attacks as claimed. Netanyahu can wage war against us, but he cannot achieve his goals.”

He also referred to the support that Hezbollah receives from the Revolutionary Guards and said that “Iran is determined to stand by the resistance in the ways it sees fit”: “Iran is the one that decides how to support, and it has proven its determination to stand by the resistance. The support front in Lebanon exhausted the enemy for 11 months and caused displacement The residents of the north are from the houses.”
