Top Gun is one of those films that marked their generation and much more. Released in 1986, fans longed for the sequel whose development sat in the pipeline for more than a decade before Peter Craig and Justin Marks do not join the project.
While the release is scheduled for the end of May, Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer that lets us learn more regarding the plot of the film as well as the expected dynamic between Maverick (Tom Cruise) and Rooster (Miles Teller), the latter being the son of his late friend Goose. Relations are going to be tense since it seems that the latter is not determined to easily place his trust in his father’s teammate whom he considers responsible for his death.
Return of Val Kilmer
In the trailer, Maverick is entrusted with the training of pilots who will have to carry out a particularly perilous mission. Top Gun being reserved for the elite, it will push the members of the new team to their limits.
We also learn that Maverick owes his place to Iceman (Val Kilmer), without knowing if the two protagonists will appear side by side (in flashback perhaps?). Indeed, one of the scenes shows Maverick at a funeral without showing us the deceased person. It might perfectly be that of Iceman, which would push Maverick to agree to train the new generation in order to respect the last will of the ice man.
Of course, this is pure speculation and we will have to wait until May 25 in France to find out the answer.
