T.O.P (real name Choi Seung-hyun) from the group Big Bang has been known for his role in the Netflix series ‘Squid Game 2’.

On the 7th, SBS reported that TOP will take on the role of a retired idol in Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’.

According to reports, T.O.P appears as a retired idol who worked as a singer in the past. Rumor has it that director Hwang Dong-hyuk found an actor who can dance as well as rap in character.

Controversy arose when the news that TOP would appear in ‘Squid Game 2’ was announced. It was because of his past drug history. In 2016, T.O.P was sentenced to 10 months in prison and 2 years probation for inhaling cannabis.

T.O.P was later discharged from his position as a police officer and completed his military service as a public service worker. Last year, his exclusive contract with his agency, YG Entertainment, expired.

Controversy spread like fire when a media outlet reported that the casting of TOP, which caused a social controversy, was due to the influence of actors Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun. In response, Lee Jung-jae’s side drew a line, saying, “Casting is the right of the director and production team,” and Lee Byung-hun’s side did not give any position.

As T.O.P had previously indicated that he would not be active in the entertainment industry in the future, doubts regarding this casting grew.
