Top Events in Springfield: Art Exhibition, Comedy Show, and More This Weekend

Favorable temperatures are returning this weekend but there’s more to look forward to than weather.

The opening of an art exhibition, comedy show, and more are on tap for the first weekend of November in Springfield. Here are five events to check out.

Hobnob Market

Halloween is now past and Christmas shoppers can get an early start this weekend with the Hobnob Market.

The market will include more than 120 vendors selling vintage and homemade goods. Doors are open 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday at 801 E. Sangamon Ave., the Illinois State Fairgrounds Expo building.

Tickets are available online for $10 each and cover both days. For more information, call 217-782-6661.

Portraits opening

The Pharmacy Gallery and Art Space will open an exhibition on Friday evening, featuring the portraits of local photographer Zach Adams and more than 20 artists.

Hours for this weekend’s opening, held at 623 E. Adams St., are 6-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The Sam Crain Trio will be featured artists on Friday.

The exhibition will run through January 2024.

Kids’ Night Out

The Lincoln Memorial Garden will host a Friday event inviting kids ages 9-13 for a night out at the garden. The event will be held 6-8 p.m. at 2315 E. Lake Shore Dr.

Tickets are available online for $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

Day of the Dead

The Illinois State Museum invites guests to its new “Honrando a Nuestros Ancestros: The Bridge Between the Living and the Dead” exhibit, recognizing the two-day holiday of Día de los Muertos.

Running from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at 502 S. Spring St., the event is free and will include kids crafts, dances, and snacks.

Comedy show

Donnie B’s Comedy Show, located at 2200 Meadowbrook Rd., is back for its 25th season, this weekend presenting Dobie “Mr. Lucky” Maxwell and featuring Blind Stein.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, tickets can be purchased online and at the door if seats are still available. Food service will be available before the show.
