Mustafa Maya Amaya, born in Belgium, was arrested in Melilla, a Spanish enclave located on Moroccan territory, several Belgian media reported on Tuesday, citing the Spanish press. The man, who has Spanish nationality, is considered one of the biggest recruiters of jihadists in Europe.

Mustafa Maya Amaya, nicknamed “El Taliban”, was born in 1963 in Brussels and comes from a family of Spanish gypsies. He has already been arrested several times and spent time in prison, notably in the 1990s for drug trafficking. In 2014, he was arrested as the leader of a major terrorist recruitment network. In 2018, he was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was reportedly arrested earlier this week during an operation by the Spanish National Police once morest jihadist terrorism.
