The Tesla Model Y is a 100% electric SUV whose selling price starts at 44,990 euros in France. Just behind the mark d’Elon Musk, a low-cost car ends up in second place. This is the Dacia Sandero, with 60,202 new vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2023 and an increase of 27% over one year. This spacious and economical model is available from 11,990 euros in France.

In third position, we find the Volkswagen T-Roc, with 54,960 sales and a 50% increase over one year. Its new price is between 26,600 and 55,500 euros depending on its version. Despite the desire of the European Union to end the sale of internal combustion engines by 2035the German SUV which consumes between 4.7 and 8.9 L/100 km is still popular with motorists.

At the foot of the podium, the Peugeot 208, the first French car (and first in European sales in 2022), ranks fourth with 53,336 sales, ahead of the Opel Corsa (53,307) and the Toyota Yaris Cross (53,050). The Fiat 500, Dacia Duster, Renault Clio and Volkswagen Golf complete the top 10.

Volkswagen, best-selling brand

As for the brands, Volkswagen is positioned at the top of sales on the new market with a total of 332,723 vehicles sold in the first quarter (+25% over one year). Toyota is in second place with 220,019 cars sold (+19%) and Peugeot in third place with 178,572 sales (+9%).
