A bioethanol pump for pleasure boats
#HERAULT – This is a world first. In Hérault, Biomotors inaugurated a superethanol-E85 pump this Saturday, September 23, in the service station at the port of Palavas-les-Flots. Objective: to reproduce in the recreational boating sector the success encountered by this automotive fuel. This fuel produced from cereals or beets is less polluting than diesel. To adapt to this market, Biomotors has developed waterproof conversion boxes for boats.
Cut brake cable and complaint from an elected official
#PYRENEES-ORIENTALES – A deputy mayor of Villefrance-de-Conflent (PO) filed a complaint with the gendarmerie following a series of acts of vandalism and sabotage on her vehicle. “As soon as someone says something, the slightest noise between these walls takes on an insane magnitude,” says deputy Frédérique Latour. Two weeks ago, he was driving to his business run by his husband in Villefrancehe-de-Conflent. She had parked her car, an old Kangoo, under a tree. “Someone tried to burn it,” recalls the chosen one. A week later, a new incident: a diesel leak – “both fuel inlet and return pipes were cut”. The elected official files a complaint. Tuesday September 19, the mechanic called him to inform him that his car was repaired. But the phone rings again: “There is a big problem. We also cut your brake cable,” explains the mechanic. “For me, it’s an attempted murder,” testifies the elected official who modified her complaint with these new elements.

#CAISSARGUES – This is the number of years it took Valery Hadshinow to return to the places of his childhood in Caissargues, in the Gard. Born in Ukraine in 1943, Valéry Hadshinow experienced war from a very young age. In 1948, his parents moved to France to work in the salt works. Then, they lived in Caissargues until he was 12 years old. For 68 years, he had not seen his childhood friends again. Today, Valéry Hadshinow lives in the United States, in New Jersey.
The best scalers competing in Sète
#OYSTERS – Who will be the best at using the oyster knife? All weekend, Saturday September 23 and Sunday September 24, the Victor-Hugo Palace in Sète hosts Oyster’s Days, the regional shucking championship. The meeting brings together all the players in the shellfish industry, grouped within the Mediterranean Regional Shellfish Farming Committee. “The idea is to put oyster producers into competition in a friendly atmosphere, in teams”, explains Elie Blais, shellfish farmer. You can expect a high level: during the 1st edition in January, the Marseillais Kévin Nissarnaud took it to Sète. And since nothing is lost, the oysters opened this Sunday, September 24 in the morning will “fuel” at midday the competition open to the public for the biggest oyster eater!
The Reptiliades in Nîmes
#GARD – Until this Sunday, September 24, snakes, lizards, stick insects and ants populate the Nîmes exhibition center. The Reptiliades bring together 120 exhibitors who present animals and equipment. This year, the show is giving pride of place to current trends. “There is a lot of interest in insects and in the creation of tropical terrariums, reconstituting biotopes allowing animals to hide,” explain the organizers. At Reptilis, Stéphane Rostelle presents rarities: a tiliqua, a lizard with pigmentary mutations, an Indonesian candoia or spectacular green pythons.
