According to the sales data released by the Passenger Vehicle Market Information Joint Conference, in April 2022, the nationwide wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in the narrow sense reached 946,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 43.0%. Among them, the wholesale sales of SUVs in April was 442,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 45.5%.

In April, BYD won the manufacturer’s sales championship, focusing on the SUV field. BYD’s performance is also eye-catching. In April, a total of three BYD models joined the top 10 SUV sales list. Among them, BYD Song won the championship with 25,000 units, a year-on-year increase of nearly 60%; BYD Tang and BYD Yuan PLUS both sold around 10,000 units, ranking sixth and seventh respectively. Secondly, the Haval H6, which has faded from the “magic car” halo, won the second place, down 42% year-on-year. The third-ranked Changan CS75 sold nearly halved, with sales of 12,000 units, down 49.6% year-on-year. It is worth noting that the Model Y, the SUV sales champion in March, fell off the list and disappeared. It can be seen that the previous shutdown of Tesla’s Shanghai factory has greatly damaged Tesla’s vitality.

In terms of joint venture models, Toyota Willanda sold a total of 10,650 units in April, down 1.2% year-on-year, ranking No. 4. It is a model with a smaller decline in joint venture SUVs, while the “sister” model RAV4 has been ill-fated and slipped off the list. Another classic SUV, the Highlander, sold 5,659 units in April, down 28.9% year-on-year, ranking 23rd. At the same time, Honda CR-V sold 6,185 units, down 75% year-on-year, and its ranking also dropped 15 places to 19th, which is the model with the largest year-on-year decline in the list. In the high-end luxury market, only the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3 entered the list. Among them, the BMW X3 sold 8,038 units in April, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC also gained 7,046 units, while the Audi Q5 has disappeared. In the top ten sales, the independent models Geely Boyue, Binyue, Chery Tiggo 8, and Baojun 530 all rose in the rankings to varying degrees.
