After 10 days of Top 14, an update on the comparison of the sporting rankings with that of club budgets.

It’s not quite yet half-time of the regular phase of the 2023-2024 Top 14 season. But we are getting closer, following the 10th round played on Friday and Saturday, just before the confectioners’ break. With almost two months of digestion on the World Cup for the most requested players and clubs, including the last two finalists, Stade Toulousain and Stade Rochelais.

A World Cup to digest for the most sought-following clubs

This surely explains, particularly for the first city, the delay in lighting, despite a more comfortable operating budget than the competition, once more this season. In the ratio of sports ranking and budget, the Haut-Garonnais show a deficit of 7 units. Only LOU, at this stage, is less successful at -8. On the other hand, things are smiling to the fullest, on the side of the Section Paloise. The Greens of Béarn have more modest means than the majority of their opponents, but they occupy a convincing and brilliant second place in the sporting ranking of this Top 14 and record a positive differential of +10.

None of the six biggest budgets qualify at this stage for the Top 14

Only USAP is in perfect balance in thirteenth position, while Stade Français and Aviron Bayonnais, at -1 and +1 respectively, are approaching it. If everything remains to be decided, we can still note that following the first ten days, none of the six biggest budgets in the championship is in a position to qualify. It would probably be unique in the history of elite French rugby if things were to continue to be like this on Saturday June 8 on the evening of the 26th and last day of the season.
