The German Toolcraft invests in the eleventh laser powder bed metal printer. This time the choice fell on a TruPrint 3000 with two laser sources and a complete monitoring system. The 3D metal printer will initially be used for series production of components for the semiconductor, aviation and printing equipment industries.

Process stability, reproducibility, service and data security: these are the four arguments that were decisive in the choice of the TruPrint 3000, with which Toolcraft is further expanding the AM machine park. “The collaboration with Trumpf has proven itself for many years and that is why our long-standing partner was able to fully convince us in every respect,” says Stefan Auernhammer, Head of Additive Manufacturing at Toolcraft. Trumpf presented the second generation of the TruPrint 3000 at Formnext last fall. The two laser sources double the productivity of the machine.

Supplier will use the new machine to print 3D for the semiconductor industry, among other things

14 AM systems from German supplier

It will be the eleventh laser powder bed installation at the German supplier. In addition, there are two DED systems with powder supply, including a modified version of the Trumpf LMD printer with which the high-speed EHLA process can be applied. And recently Toolcraft has another one hybride robotcel built for surfacing and milling in one cell. Now the next expansion of the AM machine park is just around the corner.

Certified

Toolcraft has had the TruPrint machines certified according to ISO/ASTM TS 52930:2011 and 52920:2013. This certification is important for applications in medical technology, aerospace and semiconductor industries. Toolcraft will initially make parts on the new TruPrint 3000 for customers in the aerospace and semiconductor industries and for printing equipment. For all these applications, the monitoring system is a welcome option on the machine. “With the integrated monitoring system for the melt pool, we want to further deepen our process knowledge and are convinced that we can take the quality, safety and efficiency of the melting process to the next level,” adds Stefan Auernhammer.
