Too many 7- to 9-year-olds in X – Jay Fonseca

📱👧👦 More than 30% of children between 7 and 9 years old in the United States have an X (formerly Twitter) account and 44% have their own tablet to access applications and games, according to a new report published by the parental control software company Qustodio.

🔎 It seems that many parents do not block social network X because they think it is old-fashioned, but many children of Generation Alpha enter it out of curiosity or through internet searches that lead them to the platform’s content.

🤬 What is worrying, according to the report, is that X could expose minors to hate speech, pornography and misinformation, since around 13% of all posts on Elon Musk’s social network contain adult content.

📳 As children get older, their access to social media increases. By age 10, 42% of children in the United States already have their own smartphone and by age 10, 40% start using TikTok.

🤖 Roblox, YouTube, and Amazon Shopping are the most popular apps for children ages 7-9 and 10-12. Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon Shopping are the top three apps for children ages 13-15 and 16-18.

👀 Reddit, Netflix, and Facebook also make it into the top 10 apps across all age groups, while Discord, Snapchat, and Instagram appear in the top favorites as teens enter adulthood.

Do you use any parental control platform for your children? Do you think X should be blocked for minors?
