Too-fast corrugated slide strikes terror in Michigan

Attractions abound in Belle Isle Park, Michigan. But amidst the cultural centers, the aquarium, the fountain and the green spaces, something clashes in the landscape of the park: the iconic giant metal slide.

Even the older ones enjoy hurtling down it, aboard a rustic sack of potatoes.

It sucks, but it seems like it’s something.

Closed for more than two years due to the pandemic, the corrugated slide had a false start on Friday when it welcomed its first intrepids.

Poorly prepared, the track turned out to be much faster than expected. In theory, the user is not supposed to perform a jump at every level!

Ouch le coccyx.

I know, my gang of cranks; you would have liked to try it. Me too.

The activity was finally closed the same day it reopened. It took officials four hours to realize that it was dangerous.

It’s reminiscent of Dodgers reporter David Vassegh’s recent misadventure at Miller Park.

The slide back in service

Sunday, on his page Facebook, Belle Isle Park mentioned that “small adjustments” had been made, so that the track would be slower. The structure has not been modified, rather it has been coated with an appropriate wax.

People measuring 48 inches ready to pay the $1 requested for a ride will be able to catch up over the next two weekends.

This time, someone from the place has the brilliant idea to test the track. Last week was the time to think regarding it, champ.
