Víctor Agustín Rosado Adanaqué, known artistically as Tony Rosado, was involved in a reprehensible act of violence against women during a concert held in the town of La Pampa, in Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios region), on October 17.

According to images released by América Noticias, the 65-year-old cumbia singer took off the clothes of a woman who went on stage with the sole purpose of winning a case of beer. The outrageous event was recorded by the attendees, who at all times applauded the embarrassing scene.
The woman, in an alleged state of intoxication, took off her underwear to hand it to Tony Rosado, covering her legs with the dress she was wearing. When she started dancing with the event’s entertainer, and her back was turned, the cumbiambero took the opportunity to lift her skirt in front of everyone. Even though the woman covered herself again, Tony Rosado insisted and completely stripped her of her clothes.

The composer and singer of cumbia norteña spoke out about what happened and denied that he undressed the woman, despite the fact that the images are compelling. In statements to América Noticias, he assured that he did not know about the challenge that the concert organizers were going to carry out.
“I didn’t know that, they asked a girl to go up on stage and take off her underwear and they gave her a case of beer. I didn’t know there were those contests, but they are used to it here in Puerto Maldonado, you know that in the mine, in the pampas, there is a lot of prostitution around here,” was her response.
He added that it was the young woman who asked – supposedly – to help her take off her clothes, when the evidence indicates otherwise. “The girl said ‘help me’, she shouted ‘help me’, as I was far away, I approached and untied her from behind, nothing more,” she commented.
Tony Rosado denied that he took off a woman’s clothes in the middle of the show, but the images are compelling.
Nancy Tolentino, Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations, announced that her office will take ex officio legal action against singer Tony Rosado, after he was caught removing a woman’s clothes in the middle of a concert. Let us remember that this is not the first time that the Piuran artist has been involved in a scandal of violence against women.

“We will take action because we are against all forms of violence, wherever it comes from, we will act ex officio any transgression of our regulations, which defend and protect women, we will act against any violation of women’s rights (…) Woman is not an object and she is not a thing. We must guarantee her right to a life free of violence, I reject all forms of violence against her,” she expressed.
Likewise, the Ministry of Women issued a statement confirming that they will request the intervention of the Public Ministry to begin investigations and punish those responsible.

“The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations strongly rejects the use of women as sexual objects to promote public events because they violate their dignity and rights. The MIMP’s priority is to confront discrimination against women and this constitutes an act of violence that cannot be normalized or tolerated, and that will be communicated to the Public Ministry so that it can initiate the corresponding investigations.”
It is worth mentioning that, in 2019, Tony Rosado was investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office for encouraging, through his speeches, aggression towards women. “It doesn’t encourage anything. If the man has killed the woman, it is his problem. He kills her because she will hate him or because the woman does not pay attention to him,” he declared at that time.
