It’s a potentially legendary vintage that might join the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield on August 12, 2023. Indeed, Tony Parker, Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, Gregg Popovich and Pau Gasol – to name a few – have announced today as officially eligible to enter basketball heaven!
The ceremony might be remembered.
Each year, the Hall of Fame opens its doors and a wide variety of cuvées are presented. There are classes like 2020 that send steak (Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett), and others that do it a little less.
The 2023 vintage? Be careful, because like Marc Stein of New York Times relayed it via his Twitter account, the level might be new:
- Tony Parker
- Gregg Popovich
- Dirk Nowitzki
- Dwyane Wade
- Pau Gasol
- Becky Hammon
Just that ! Eligible files, therefore applications that will have to be validated in the coming months during the official selection which will be announced as spring approaches.
But on paper, we are on a group of legends of the game, on and off the pitch.
Class of 2023 Hall of Fame nominees announced today include: Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, Gregg Popovich and Becky Hammon.

No need to introduce Tony Parker, the French would then be the first to enter the pantheon of basketball players.
Of his generation? Other big boys. We obviously think of Pau Gasol, from the same Draft (2001) and with whom he often fought on the international scene.
Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade, also legendary, have faced each other many times, including twice in the NBA Finals, with the Mavs and the Heat.
Gregg Popovich and Becky Hammon, arm in arm for years in the NBA, would also be entitled to their entry but for different files, Becky we imagine for his immense career in the WNBA, and Pop for his accomplishments on the benches as as a coach.
Next step ? The validation of these beautiful files in a few months, an official announcement from the Springfield Hall of Fame, and an appointment made by the whole basketball planet, on August 12, 2023!
