Peloponnese Newsroom
People from every corner of the Earth will look to the sky tonight to witness the full moon of April, which is also known as the “pink full moon”.
The phenomenon will peak at 2:49 with the brightness at its maximum and is expected to paint the sky with its pink colors.
How the “Pink Full Moon” Got Its Name
This particular full moon was known to Native Americans as the “Pink Moon” because it marked the appearance of a plant with pink flowers, one of the first of spring.
It is noted that the moon tonight will be slightly larger and brighter than usual, but it will certainly not be… pink in color.
It is also worth noting that the April full moon has other names such as:
The Moon That Breaks the Ice
The Moon of plants and shrubs
The Moon where the currents are buoyant once more
The Moon showing the red grass
The Frog Moon
When will the next full moons of this year be?
May 23: Flower Moon
June 21: Strawberry moon
July 21: Buck moon
August 19: Sturgeon Moon
September 17: Harvest Moon
October 17: The Hunter’s Moon
November 15: Beaver Moon
December 15: Cold moon.
