The Olympics will witness competition in 329 competitions in 32 sports (28 of which are basic Olympic sports, while there are 4 additional sports), with the participation of 10,500 athletes competing for 306 medals, during the period from July 26 to Sunday, August 11.

The first medals will be awarded the day after the opening ceremony, in sports such as cycling, judo and fencing.

The opening ceremony will start at 7:30 pm Moscow and Mecca time, and will last for about 4 hours.

The ceremony will begin with a boat parade carrying the athletes along the Seine River, and artistic performances will be held on the banks of the river in various locations.

Two-thirds of the ceremony at the opening ceremony will be in broad daylight, and there will be air shows in the French capital.

The ceremony will last 3 hours and 45 minutes, and the delegations will be paraded on 85 boats on the Seine River, amidst 2,000 dancers performing artistic shows, and with an audience of up to 300,000 spectators.

The Olympic Games are considered one of the most important international sporting events, as they are held every 4 years and attract participants from all over the world. The last edition of these games was held in 2020 in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

It is noteworthy that Russian athletes will be absent from the parade of participating delegations during the opening ceremony by a decision of the International Olympic Committee, which attributed the reason to the fact that the Russians will participate under a neutral status.
