The Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency announced that it would crack down on alcohol in all areas of northern Gyeonggi Province at once.
The police announced on the 5th that most of the traffic police officers from 13 police stations in northern Gyeonggi Province will be deployed to crack down on drunk drivers at the Seoul Metropolitan Area 1st Ring Expressway, the Seoul Munsan-Guripocheon Expressway Interchange, downtown entertainment districts, and major amusement parks.
According to the police, as the summer vacation season is now at its peak, the entire northern Gyeonggi region will conduct a drunk driving crackdown at once from 9 pm on the same day for 2 hours, giving advance notice to prevent drunk driving. In particular, we plan to expand the ‘Drinking Enforcement Notification’, believing that the effect of preventing drunk driving is greater when the crackdown is notified in advance.
On the 22nd of last month, the police caught 12 people who had their license revoked within two hours, and 20 drivers, including 8 who had their licenses suspended, even though the Japanese government had announced a crackdown on alcohol in advance.
