Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The German midfielder for the Spanish club Real Madrid, Toni Kroos, sparked angry reactions after a post he published on his page on “X”, Twitter previously, after he was subjected to booing whistles from the fans of the “All Park” stadium in Riyadh during the match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final.
Kroos came on as a substitute for his Croatian colleague Luka Modric in the 67th minute, and some of the fans present began booing him whenever he touched the ball.
A clip spread on social media of fans laughing when Kroos fell while passing the ball in the middle of the field.
After the end of the match, the German midfielder wrote: “It was fun today… great crowd,” which X users considered to be a “mockery” of people booing him.
The reason for blowing the whistles against Kroos was due to his statements in which he criticized the players who chose to go play in the Saudi Premier League last summer.
