RATB Dave Transport Cairo, the company responsible for managing and operating the Capital Train (the light electric train project), has announced the operation of three new stations in the Capital Train, namely Al-Roubiky, the Capital Gardens and the Capital Airport, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Transport and under the authority’s supervision. This step comes in order to provide an easy transportation experience for passengers using clean energy and to encourage many citizens to use means of transportation, as the metropolitan train represents a quantum leap in the transportation sector in Egypt.
The first phase, with a total of 11 stations, in addition to one station from the second phase, opened on July 3, 2022, to join the light electric train to the clean transport system by electric trains in Egypt, which consists of “tram, subway, monorail, light electric train (LRT), and fast electric train.” The design speed is 120 km/h, the financial cost is $22 million per kilometer, and the hourly capacity ranges from 20-40 thousand passengers/hour.
