The Peaky Blinders will bid farewell to Aunt Polly with a traditional Gypsy funeral rite
Following the death of Helen McCrory, fans were wondering if her character will make an appearance in the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders. We don’t know yet, but there’s no doubt that the Shelby clan to say goodbye to Aunt Polly.
Indeed, a clue was given in the trailer for season 6. We see Michael Gray (Finn Cole) putting his hat on his head in front of a burning trailer. It is more precisely a verdine, a residential trailer used mainly by Gypsies. This scene strongly resembles a traditional gypsy funeral rite.
This scene from the trailer isn’t the only one that references Aunt Polly’s disappearance. A few seconds later, we see Lizzie, Thomas Shelby’s wife interpreted by Natasha O’Keeffe who screams in front of the burning trailer. We don’t yet know when the farewell to Aunt Polly will be on the show. In any case, a gypsy funeral rite is appropriate since Elizabeth Gray is Birdie Boswell’s daughter, the “gypsy princess”.
