Tomas Barrios said goodbye to the Chile Open, after losing to Alejandro Tabilo in the round of 16, in a match where he did not start well and in the second set, despite fighting, he could not equalize.

The “Gigante de Ñuble” fell in two sets by 2-6 and 5-7 in a match that promised and where Barrios once again faced another Davis Cup teammate, after beating Cristián Garin in the first round.

The Chilean tennis player maintained a positive record against Tabilo, whom he had beaten three times, while Ale had never been able to beat the Ñublensino, but yesterday was the exception and taking advantage of his best moment he reached the first time to reach the quarterfinals.

Now Barrios will continue in the Chilean doubles tournament, where he is precisely paired with Tabilo, with whom he shares a coach.

Today they will face the Colombian Nicolás Barrientos and the Brazilian Rafael Matos, where they will seek to qualify for the final and thus go for the doubles title.

Despite the defeat, Barrios will have a slight rise in the ranking where he will be in position 103, approaching the best 100 in the world where he hopes to arrive soon to continue climbing and participate in higher category tournaments.

Barrios is now going to prepare for his next challenge, where he will also continue with the Chilean team in the Davis Cup, which returned to the main draw of the tournament and where he hopes to advance to the round.
