Tom Hanks: Artificial intelligence may make me continue acting after I die

American actor Tom Hanks said that his artistic career may continue following his death, due to advanced artificial intelligence techniques.
Hanks, 66, explained that it is possible to use technology to recreate his image, ensuring that he will continue to appear in films forever, according to the BBC.
He added that the recent developments would present technical and legal challenges, pointing out that he had expected this to happen during the filming of The Polar Express, which was shown in 2004, the first animated film using digital motion technology.
He said, “We made a movie that contained a huge amount of our private data stored in a computer, and we appeared with our features in it. We predicted in 2004 what is happening now, and we saw that there would be this ability to take zeros and ones from inside the computer, and turn them into a face and a personality.”
Hanks pointed out that the current artificial intelligence technology has grown rapidly beyond what he imagined in 2004, and that there is now talk within production companies regarding how to protect actors from that increasing development.
He pointed out that, using the technology currently available, he can produce a series of films of 7 parts, during which he appears as a 32-year-old young man, and continues to do so forever, adding: “Anyone can now reconfigure himself at any age in which he is, through artificial intelligence or Deep fake technology. I might be hit by a bus tomorrow and die, but I will continue to act.”
Hanks warned that without a good understanding of artificial intelligence and deepfakes techniques, no one will be able to distinguish that he is not who appears in the film, which is a technical challenge, and may cause legal problems.
