Tom Dumoulin quits cycling with immediate effect

The Dutchman, who had taken a break of several months between January and June in 2021, decided at the beginning of June this year to stop definitively at the end of the season. However, the Jumbo-Visma rider is bringing forward his cycling retirement and has decided to stop racing today.

Dumoulin began his career in 2011 with Rabobank’s continental team. He then wore the shirt of Sunweb (2017-2019) and Jumbo-Visma (from 2020), among others. Dumoulin won the Giro d’Italia in 2017 and finished second in the Giro and the Tour a year later. He won a total of nine stages in grand tours. He became world champion in the individual and team time trial (both in 2017) and twice Olympic vice-champion (2016 and 2021). (
