Actor Tom Cruise participated in mediation attempts between the actors and writers unions on the one hand, and photography studios in the United States on the other hand, in order to reach a solution to the widespread sit-in that paralyzed the production of cinematic and television works, in the first strike of its kind in more than 6 decades.
The Hollywood Reporter said Cruz joined Zoom meetings in June to urge the Hollywood Film and Television Alliance to listen to the two unions’ concerns on issues including rewarding actors for the “digital ramifications” of artificial intelligence.
And it wasn’t the only issue that preoccupied the “Mission Impossible” star: he also wanted to urge the Film and Television Alliance to support the unions’ stance on actors, performers and stunts.
The report believes that Cruz may be the biggest star to intervene to reach a solution between the two parties, and return the water to normal in Hollywood, following stopping or postponing many works, including also the eighth part of the “Mission Impossible” series.
It is noteworthy that the strike requires writers and actors to refrain from participating in any media activity, including “conferences, interviews and tours, or promoting through social media platforms any work that causes the strike, or companies affected by the stoppage of work.”
