Djurgården is a cross from the Conference League.

The home team won 1–0 against NK Maribor at the Tele2 arena.

– We should have scored more goals, says Tokmac Nguyen.

After an even and chance-poor first half, Djurgården took over in the second. Just over twelve thousand spectators got to see Djurgården press on and Tokmac Nguyen’s brilliance was decisive.

The 30-year-old Norwegian played the ball forward to Deniz Hümmet and when the striker passed diagonally-inward-back Nguen scored the only goal of the match.

– It was nice between me and Deniz. It is situations like this when we enter the box that we are dangerous, says Nguyen.

The return match is played on Thursday next week and the winner of the doubleheader gets to play in the Conference League. Nguen is a little upset that it was “only” 1-0 in the first match.

– The first thing I think is that we should have scored more goals. I think we play a very good second half. We step up, it was nice to see, he says.

Anger among supporters

Djurgården’s victory was much needed after another derby loss.

Dif fell against AIK last weekend and after the derby, Djurgården’s biggest supporter groups chose to issue a communique and organize a protest action.

“Despite years of derby betrayal, we stand here again, today we sing for the shield” read a couple of banners by the cheerleaders before the match.

– Of course it was hard after the last match, but there are so many matches to come that you have to put it behind you and focus as well as you can, says Nguyen.

check Sportbladet also broadcasts Djurgården’s return match against Maribor, at 20.15 on Thursday 29 August.
