The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 E is the first super wide-angle zoom lens in Tokina’s lineup designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras. It features a fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range and a zoom range of 11-18mm (17-27mm KB equivalent) that has been integrated into a compact and lightweight body. The lens is suitable for both photography and video recording.

The atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 E offers an impressive resolution from the wide angle to the telephoto range of the zoom. This lens features high contrast and low distortion, as well as fast and accurate AF response in both photo and video modes. It is fully compatible with Sony camera features including their Image Stabilization, Direct Manual Focus, MF Assist and optical corrections.

With its compact design, versatile focal length and optical quality, the Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 E is the perfect optic for landscapes, group photos, environmental portraits, architecture, automotive photography, street snapshots, documentaries and vlogging.

The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 E features a lightweight (335g) and compact (overall length 74.1mm) design that perfectly matches Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Despite the fact that it’s a super wide-angle lens, it’s small enough that it doesn’t feel bulky even when shooting with one hand. The compactness of the Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 enables excellent integration with gimbal systems (e.g. from FeiyuTech) for filmmakers and vloggers.

optical design

The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 features a complex optical design with two aspherical and two SD (Super Low-Dispersion) glass elements to suppress chromatic aberration for vivid color reproduction, low distortion and low light fall-off. Optical elements, including the front glass, are fully and multi-coated (multi-coating) to reduce ghosting and flares to a minimum. As a super wide-angle lens, the Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 scores with extremely low distortion – a great feature for interior shots and architectural photos.

Fast f/2.8 aperture

The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 features a fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range with nine rounded aperture blades. On the one hand, it is possible to take handheld shots in poor light conditions. On the other hand, it supports users in the implementation of creative ideas with beautiful blur gradients and a very attractive bokeh for a super wide-angle zoom.

The minimum focusing distance is just 19 centimeters at the maximum wide-angle and offers advantages when creating unique wide-angle macro images with perspective effects. When the aperture is open, the image appears more dynamic and with a 3D look with front and rear bokeh.

Full communication with the camera body

The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 offers full compatibility with the advanced features of Sony E-mount cameras, including Fast Hybrid AF, Image Stabilization, Direct Manual Focus, MF Assist mode, Eye AF and various optical corrections such as shading, chromatic aberration and distortion.

Silent ST-M for precise autofocusing

The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 features a quiet ST-M motor unit coupled with the lens position sensor for fast and precise autofocusing in still and video modes.

Micro USB port for firmware updates

The lens firmware can be upgraded by customers via a USB cable (Type B).
