Toddler and mother found by Ontario police

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the toddler is safe and sound; the mother and an accomplice are in the hands of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Citizens would have warned the authorities of the presence of their car.

The mother and son were actively wanted in the country, after leaving Stoneham, near Quebec, last weekend. Thursday, the search for Jacqueline Beaudoin-McClintock, 32, and her child went to northern Ontario.

The information collected by the investigators suggests that Ms. Beaudoin-McClintock could have left Quebec and that she could have entrusted the child to an acquaintance before leaving the region. [de Québec]explained Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du QuébecEarlier in the day.

In the afternoon, the Sûreté du Québec still could not confirm or deny whether the child was still with his mother, indicating that the latter could have tried to entrust the child to another person, after having suffered a first refusal.

Mysterious disappearance

According to our information, James’s mother rented a residence in Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury. Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec were there early Thursday afternoon.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the mother and toddler led investigators from the Sûreté du Québec to believe that the safety of the child was compromised.

The mother is considered a main witness in the homicide file on her ex-husband Nicolas Audet, victim of a murder in Saint-Isidore on February 13 or 14.

The police are conducting searches at this residence in Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury.

Murder in Beauce

The body of the 41-year-old man was found in his residence after his employer, Équipements d’érablière CDL inc., reported him missing because he did not show up for work.

On the spot, the scene left no doubt as to the violent nature of Mr. Audet’s death.

No arrests have been made so far in this case.

No Amber Alert

However, no Amber alert was triggered during the disappearance of Jacqueline Beaudoin-McClintock and her son, because the three required criteria were not met.

Jacqueline Beaudoin-McClintock had legal custody of the child, so it was not a kidnapping.

It’s not a kidnapping and it’s not being treated as such at this time.said Mrs. Dorsainville Thursday morning.

The three criteria for triggering an Amber alert:

  1. the child was the victim of an abduction
  2. the child is in danger
  3. the police have enough descriptive information (suspect, means of transport, child)

In an interview with Isabelle Richer on RDI, Marcel Savard, former Deputy Director General of the Sûreté du Québec, mentioned that one of the options of the Sûreté du Québec was also to try to locate the mother with her cell phone.

They would, however, have to get permission from a judge to try to locate where the cell phone connects to the network, so not necessarily a request to access the mother’s information in her mobile device.he says.
