TOKYO (Archyde.com) – Today’s Tokyo stock market is expected to lead to buying. The Nasdaq Composite jumped more than 2% on Thursday, boosted by solid earnings from tech companies in the U.S. market. In response to this trend, high-tech and semiconductor-related stocks are expected to perform well in the Tokyo market as well. However, since there are many investors who want to see the outcome of the Bank of Japan’s monetary policy meeting, it is likely that a wait-and-see attitude will gradually spread following the round of buying.

The expected range for the Nikkei Stock Average is 28,500 yen to 28,800 yen.

Yesterday, the three major US indexes closed higher. The S&P 500 and Dow 30 posted their biggest gains since Jan. 6, while the Nasdaq posted their biggest gains since March 16. Meta Platforms’ surge in earnings has sparked buying in other tech stocks.

In response to this trend, today’s Tokyo market is expected to remain firm from early morning. However, there is a possibility that price movements may become unstable before and following the announcement of the results of the Bank of Japan’s monetary policy meeting.

Hiroyuki Ueno, chief strategist at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management, said, “In the morning, there will be buying in favor of rising US stocks.

Basically, we do not anticipate any changes at this policy meeting, and we believe that a sense of security will gradually spread in the market following the results are announced. In the Outlook Report, it is said that the level of the outlook for prices is closely watched in predicting future policy.

In addition to this, the Tokyo Ward Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April will be announced in Japan today. Sony Group, TDK, and Murata Manufacturing are also scheduled to announce financial results. In the United States, the Personal Consumption Expenditure Index for March will be released, while in the Eurozone, the preliminary figures for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the January-March quarter will be released.
