Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed that official working hours be reduced today, Tuesday, to allow employees the opportunity to support their country’s national team in its match against South Korea.
Al-Sumaria News reported that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the following:
The official end of working hours in ministries, agencies not affiliated with the Ministry, governorates, and all other official government institutions will be today, Tuesday, the 15th of October, at one o’clock in the afternoon.
He added that this was to provide employees with the opportunity to support the national team in its match against the South Korean team in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The match is scheduled to be held today, Tuesday, for the fourth round of Group Two in the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico, at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul, the South Korean capital, and begins at 14:00 according to Mecca and Moscow time.
The Iraqi team wants to continue its awakening in the qualifiers, as it started strongly by winning over Oman and Palestine, then tied against Kuwait.
While the South Korean national team started with a draw against Palestine, then won over Kuwait and Oman.
The top two teams in each group automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the third and fourth places will go through another round of qualifiers.
The South Korean national team leads the group standings with seven points from three matches, on goal difference against Iraq, compared to four points for Jordan, three points for Oman, two points for Kuwait, and a point for Palestine.
