Today’s Google Doodle Celebrates the Opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics – 2024-07-28 16:11:02

GOOGLE celebrated the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday (26/7) by presenting a Google Doodle showing five animals swimming freely in a river dominated by blue and golden brown. Some of them carry the characteristics of the Olympic sports.

According to the official Google doodle page, this design represents the unique location of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony which will take place on the Seine River.

“For the first time, the City of Light will kick off its opening ceremony not in a stadium. Instead, thousands of athletes will swim in the Seine, creating a spectacular sight in the heart of Paris,” Google wrote on its official blog.

Not only that, users who click or press the Doodle will be immediately directed to the latest information about the 2024 Paris Olympics without having to type keywords in the search bar.

Google also plans to feature a different doodle each day to celebrate the Olympics. The doodles will be illustrated and animated by Doodler Helene Leroux and guest artist Chris O’Hara.

On the other hand, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics will begin with a speech by the French leader. Then followed by a parade or defile of athletes representing the participating countries. The highlight of the event will be the lighting of the Olympic flame, which marks the start of the four-year competition.

The ceremony of the biggest sporting event for the first time held outside the stadium. The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris will take place on Friday (26/7) local time or Saturday (27/7) early morning WIB.

Athletes and officials from 206 countries will take part in a boat parade along the River Seine past iconic Parisian buildings.

Boats carrying the athletes’ parade will follow the Seine River starting from the Austerlitz Bridge for 6 kilometers.

Over the next two weeks from July 26 to August 11, 2024, the best athletes from 184 countries and 10,500 athletes will meet and compete for success in 329 events across 32 sports. This year’s Olympics also feature the addition of new sports such as break dancing and surfing at Teahupo’o.

Indonesia itself will send 29 athletes from 12 sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics, namely shooting, swimming, surfing, badminton, rock climbing, cycling, gymnastics, archery, cycling, weightlifting, rowing, athletics, and judo.
