CR | At dawn from Saturday to Sunday, according to the Gospels, Jesus rose from the dead. Easter Sunday, or Easter Sunday, is the biggest holiday of the entire liturgical year. Masses are solemn and a characteristic part is the singing of Alleluia, forbidden throughout Lent. The Pope delivers the traditional Urbi et Orbi blessing from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica.
During the morning services, people had the Easter dishes consecrated. They were mainly butter, lamb, bread, eggs and wine.
On Easter Sunday, people visited, feasted and made merry. It used to be the custom for each visitor who came to receive some of the consecrated food. A piece of the sacred food was also put by the householders in the orchard, in the field and in the well to guarantee an abundance of fruit, grain and good water. The Easter Feast concludes the Passion Week.
