Today, Friday, Cúcuta Despierta began with guaranteed security

San José de Cúcuta, September 19, 2024 The month of September is the month of love and friendship in Colombia since 1969, the third Saturday of September is a day of love, gifts and friendship, it is for this reason that the mayor’s office of Cúcuta launched the strategy “Cúcuta Despierta” to open shops, establishments and shopping centers with discounts and promotions.

Cúcuta Despierta will have total security thanks to the “Cúcuta Territory Safe” program, which will implement a special security device to guarantee the peace of mind of buyers, visitors and merchants.

The Mayor’s Office, through the Secretariat for Citizen Security, has coordinated joint work with the public forces to increase police presence in the city centre and around shopping centres.

“The Metropolitan Police will deploy 700 uniformed officers of different specialties who will accompany the people of Cúcuta during these days. With our security managers, we are developing crime prevention campaigns, visiting banking entities and alerting citizens about the financial theft methods most used by criminals during this time, in order to provide information to avoid being victims of this scourge,” said the Secretary of Citizen Security, Diego Villamizar.

The official also stressed that surveillance and control actions will be extended to parking lots and farmers’ market areas, where a large influx of people and buyers is expected.

“We are seeing a significant effort by the municipal administration to encourage trade through security actions that give confidence to both citizens and representatives of the trade sector. We invite the people of Cúcuta and the general public to enjoy themselves with their families, make their purchases and contribute to boosting the economy of our city,” said Daniel Pedraza, spokesman for the sector.

The Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta reiterates to citizens the importance of taking certain measures and following recommendations such as using electronic transfers instead of cash, keeping transactions confidential, requesting support from the Banking Reaction Police and alerting the authorities about any unusual situation.
