To travel for free! Transporters in Rionegro will not charge passage as a sign of gratitude

After reaching a consensus to lift the strike that had collapsed mobility in Rionegro and a good part of the Near East for 20 days, thanks to the mediation of the Ministry of Transportation, the union of transporters in the municipality announced that They will have a gesture of gratitude with the people from Rio Negro who suffered so much from the fight that the sector wages with the Mayor’s Office due to the implementation of the massive Sitirío system.

Announcing the end of the blockades, Carlos Osorno, spokesman for the transporters, reported that the bus owners and drivers agreed to give the population a Christmas bonus this Friday, December 16.

“As a thank you to the community that supported us and patiently endured this strike, the transporters announce that tomorrow (this Friday, December 16) all rionegreros will be transported completely free of chargeto all their destinations, as a way of contributing and thanking everything that happened during these days,” said Osorno.

The spokesman also invited the drivers and the public not to fall into misinformation, since chains have emerged on WhatsApp that falsely state that the strike is ongoing. This type of malicious information would have the objective of maintaining tension between the union and the Mayor’s Office, which has been red-hot for several months, which prevented an agreement from being reached before.

The act that both parties signed this Thursday consists of three points. In the first place, the Mayor’s Office agreed to guarantee that the economic conditions of transporters will not be affected, once the implementation of electronic collection begins.

Faced with the light rail project and the specific request of the representatives of the strike to guarantee that the routes will be operated by the transporters, once this transport system comes into operation, the commitment is in a construction and joint decision-making between the administration municipal authorities and transporters in the face of the affectation of routes that the project may generate. The parties in the minutes clarified that this does not imply the acceptance by the transporters of a unilateral restructuring of routes.

And, finally, the Mayor’s Office promised to deliver to the spokespersons of the transporters the complete documentation that supports the restructuring of the passenger transport system of the municipality of Rionegro.
