To Succeed MSMEs, OJK Introduces Capital Markets in Riau Through SEPMT 2024

OJK Introduces Capital Market in Riau (OJK Doc)

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is holding an Integrated Capital Market Education Socialization (SEPMT) in Riau Province to encourage people to use the capital market as an alternative source of funding, including for Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) in developing their businesses.

OJK Deputy Commissioner for Supervision of Capital Market Investment Management and Securities Institutions, Aditya Jayaantara, in his remarks in Pekanbaru, revealed that OJK has issued various policies to support companies, including MSMEs, in conducting public offerings on the capital market.

Aditya explained several provisions that had been issued, such as POJK No.53/2017, which allows companies with assets of less than IDR 50 billion to carry out public offerings with a value of up to IDR 250 billion.

Apart from that, POJK No.20/2020 was also issued to accommodate SMEs with assets of no more than IDR 10 billion to be able to utilize securities crowdfunding (SCF) as a funding source with a maximum funding of IDR 10 billion.

“Through this outreach activity, I encourage business owners not to hesitate to utilize the capital market to raise funds for business development and increase the company’s capacity in the future,” said Aditya.

Fund raising by SMEs through SCF continues to show an increase.

The series of activities include:

  1. Public Lecture at Riau State University and Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau State Islamic University, with the opening of customer fund accounts (RDN) for 1,400 student accounts.
  2. Socialization of the capital market as an alternative source of funding for companies.
  3. Providing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and inauguration of six Village Investment Galleries (GI).
