Michikane Fujiwara, who attracted fans’ attention in the taiga drama “Hikaru Kimi e” from the first shocking scene as an important character holding the key to the story, ended his life in the 18th episode and left the drama. We spoke to Reo Tamaki, who played the role of Michikane. (Interviewer: Tadashi Okabe, Navi Art Exhibition Editorial Team)

I was moved by Yu’s proposal and said, “I was able to fulfill my role. »

Q: The final goodbye scene with Michinaga was really moving. It seems that following rehearsals, the acting changed from the script.

AAccording to the storyline, Michikane comes to visit Michikane who is seriously ill, and Michikane tells Michikane: “You are a future human being, don’t come in to protect the house.” » It was a scene where they met through the house. curtains. However, when we tried to repeat, Emoto Yu said, “Even if you tell him not to come in, Michinaga will open the blinds and come in.” He will be close to his brother. » Director Nakaizumi said, “They talked. to Kei to change it.NakaizumiHe agreed and said, “I see. This is a possible direction. » So we modified it for the actual production.

Q: This is a big change.

A: Sure, it would have worked if the storyline had them meeting behind the blinds, exchanging things, and then leaving, and that might have been better. However, I think Michikane was really grateful that Michinaga was there for him. Michikane firmly believes that he was saved thanks to Michinaga, but he realizes that it is not a one-sided feeling.Michinaga is a person who stayed true to who he is without hesitation. He must have been happy to have survived.. I was honestly happy that Yu-kun was Michinaga. In this scene, even when the camera stopped, I mightn’t stop crying, and as I continued to moan, Yu-kun rubbed my back and said, “It’s hard, is not it ? I was happy to be able to fulfill my role.

I always hated Michinaga

Q: What kind of feelings did Michikane have towards Michinaga?

A: I think I always hated it (laughs). Michinaga made fun of his father, and his father said: “I too am the third son. » Michikane doesn’t have that kind of typical father and son relationship. Michinaga was the one who witnessed his father’s death, and it was clear that he was loved the most by his father. However, in the 15th episode, he came to take care of my older brother, who was exhausted following his father’s death. He told me: “My brother can change. » He didn’t avoid me, he didn’t run away from me, he said the words I needed. This must have required a considerable amount of energy on Michinaga’s part. It was a good turn of events to change things completely. Instead of falling in love with it little by little, I started loving it all at once.

Q: Michikane dies with a smile on his face. What does this smile mean?

A: Do you think regarding the stupid things and actions you have committed so far? There was also a certain kind of emptiness. The laughter was a mixture of many things, including the joy that Michinaga was with me right before he died, the joy that he opened his heart to me, and the regret I felt for what had happened in the past.

The meaning of “dirty role” has completely changed.

Q: On the way to Hiden-in, there was a scene where you said, “It’s my mission to play the dirty role.” » This scene left an impression on me. The meaning has changed from the “dirty role” that Michikane played until now.

A: When his father, who strongly believed in his life and had become a pillar for him, disappeared, Michikane collapsed, but thanks to Michinaga, he was saved and became determined to take on the role of “dirty job » for someone else. . I think it is. I guess that means he’s playing a dirty role in Michinaga’s future, not for his personal gain, but for the sake of the Fujiwara family. Thanks to Michinaga, I became a little more of a real human being.

Q Speaking of Michikane, the scene where Chiyaha is brutally murdered in the first episode is truly impressive. This determined the picture of the first half of the drama. Looking at this scene.

A: When I saw the script, I thought it was interesting. I acted as I thought regarding how I might relate this further.

Various thoughts from viewers on SNS: “I’m glad I did it.”

Q: Many viewers say they were drawn to this scene.

Trully ? » I thought (laughs). Personally, I thought it was scary to see a face covered in blood, so I’m glad it turned out to be a draw. I was afraid to stop watching following the first episode. My co-stars and crew members were like, “I’m glad this happened,” and the reaction on social media was also positive, so admittedly I was relieved.

Q: Tamaki-san actively uses SNS regarding the drama and gets closer to viewers. Have you ever discovered anything while watching the drama from the same perspective as the viewers?

A It was an eye-opening experience for me to realize that there are as many different perspectives as there are people watching. There are dozens, if not hundreds of times more prospects than one might expect. I think it’s unique in our time that we can visualize this. I’m not very good at SNS, but I’m glad I tried it.

The Heian period has many elements that are relevant to the present day.

Q When creating the film, Shizuka Oishi emphasized that he wanted to “change the image of the Heian period.” To everyone, the Heian period had a very distant, unrelated and vague image. However, the drama had a human touch and made me feel that people are no different from 1000 years ago. I think Michikane played a role in bridging that gap, but did the Heian period become familiar to you as well?

A: Many aspects are relevant to modern times. Although their positions, government positions, and cultures are different, family issues such as Kaneie’s aging and how his children behave in response are still the same. Or maybe the fundamentals, like the desire to progress in the world, haven’t changed. I’m sure some people shy away from it because it’s from the Heian period, but there are parts they can relate to, so I’d be happy if they might try to incorporate it into theirs, or come back to it. their daily lives and say to themselves: “I see”. I’m sure there are elements that will resonate with viewers as well.

I want to continue to master the “hated role”

Q Looking back, what do you find rewarding regarding playing a hated role?

A: Actually, in my career so far, I’ve played a lot of bastard roles. I often play the role of a murderer (lol). Mr. Oishi also told me, “This is the perfect role for this role,” and when I saw the script, I was like, “It’s pretty good, isn’t it?” » (laughs) After playing the role of Michikane, I realized that I might play the role of a scumbag in different ways. It looks like it will be rewarding in the future.
