The billionaire clarifies as follows: Looking to the future, I plan to donate almost all of my wealth to the foundation. I will go down and eventually leave the list of the richest people in the world ».
He goes on to reveal his plan: I have an obligation to return my resources to society in the way that has the greatest impact in reducing suffering and improving lives. And I hope other people in positions of great wealth and privilege will also go down this path. »
Suiting words to deeds, Bill Gates will therefore transfer 20 billion dollars to his foundation’s endowment fund during the month of July. Enough to allow this organization to increase in power with annual expenditure which will increase from 6 billion dollars per year today to 9 billion within four years. As a reminder, the Bill-and-Melinda-Gates Foundation employs 1,541 people to date and deploys its activities aimed at fighting extreme poverty in many countries.
