The problem of gaps observed in regional hospitals due to the lack of specific specialties is now explosive. In an emergency meeting that took place at the Ministry of Health, led by Minister Adonis Georgiadis, it was decided to implement the law on the mandatory summons of private doctors, as in the pandemic.
According to the “MEGA” report, so far no one from the Ministry of Health has spoken regarding consequences for those who refuse to help, and this as the thoughts that existed regarding stopping prescriptions met with a strong reaction from doctors.
Why were we driven there? In the past, the health minister tried to convince private doctors to work in the hospitals with a pad. Of the 145 who were invited, however, only 11 agreed.
It is typical that – according to SKAI – there are only 2 permanent pathologists in Drama and Xanthi, while in Santorini and Kos, none. The law obliges private doctors to assist the NHS in emergency situations.
“Demand is a barbaric word. I prefer good faith consultation. The state has many ways to oblige you. There has been a law since the time of Thanos Pleuris that gives the possibility”, said Adonis Georgiadis in his statements and added: “In Kos we have announced four positions of pathologists, nobody went. Four pediatrician positions, none went. We are talking regarding 14 consecutive announcements”.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Marios Themistokleous, said: “In Santorini we have an open advertisement with 9,000 euros gross, 5,000 euros net for pathologists, anesthesiologists, nephrologists, there is no candidate.”
