According to his studies, the quality of sleep should be favored over the quantity. He established the five factors guaranteeing a good sleep, which he explained to the Guardian “You should sleep between seven and eight hours a night, not be prone to insomnia more than twice a week, not have trouble falling asleep more than twice a week, not use sleeping pills and feeling rested after waking up at least five days a week. »

To reach such conclusions, the researcher and his team analyzed sleep data from 172,321 people, aged around fifty on average, for just over four years. During this period, 8,681 people in the survey died. The study, which will be presented in detail at the beginning of March, is categorical: people combining the five factors of quality sleep “were 30% less likely to die from all causes combined, 21% less likely to succumbing to cardiovascular disease and 19% less dying of cancer”.
