For the past few days, the name of Pierre-Luc Dubois has been circulating more and more in the various transaction rumors. Indeed, he seems to want to leave Winnipeg when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2024, and clearly, that forces the Jets to consider the idea of trading him if he does not plan to stay in town for the long term. .
Darren Dreger was on air at TSN 690 this morning and he notably addressed the case of the Jets forward.

According to’insider of TSN, Dubois will not be traded at a discount this summer and it will take a big offer to get him out of Winnipeg. After all, the forward is still “under control” of the team for two years, while he will be a restricted free agent until the summer of 2024.
But what might such an offer look like? Dreger says it will take (at least) one established NHL player since the Jets want to stay competitive even if they trade Dubois.
let’s remember that last week, he took the example of Rangers and mentioned Filip Chytil, Braden Schneider and Kaapo Kakko as potential centerpieces of a transaction involving the Quebec striker. It was mostly younger players, but they all played at least a few games in the NHL.
If we take a look at what it might look like at CH, it’s a safe bet that a transaction involving Dubois will most likely send a guy like Josh Anderson to Winnipeg. It will take something else, but Anderson would be the centerpiece of a return for the native of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, in my opinion.
Dubois, a center who just turned 24, had 28 goals and 60 points in 81 games last year.
Anderson, a winger who recently turned 28, had 19 goals and 32 points in 69 games last year.
The difference is that Anderson (who has a partial no-trade clause, he can name eight teams he doesn’t want to be traded to) is signed through 2026-27 and has a cap hit $5.5 million annually. Dubois is currently a restricted free agent and his cap hit will certainly be higher than $5.5 million on his next long-term contract.
Anyway, Dubois vs. Anderson (and more), do you do it or not?

– Jake DeBrusk has withdrawn his Boston trade request.
Jake DeBrusk’s agent Rick Valette spoke with Bruins GM Don Sweeney last week and informed him that DeBrusks trade request was rescinded, and that he’d be happy to remain a Bruin moving forward. DeBrusk has 2 years left at 4m, and might still be moved but unlikely at this point.
