Speaking on Friday morning at the municipal radio station fm100 of Thessaloniki, Mr Nikos Androulakis pointed out that: “the Prime Minister tells us that we have a successful economic policy but the people he governs are the penultimate in Europe in terms of purchasing power».
Mr. Androulakis, according to APE-MBE, added that among the 27 member states of the EU, the level of purchasing power of Greece exceeds only Bulgaria although the prime minister believes that the economic policy he follows is having results. “Prices are at 88% of the European average and purchasing power is 21 points lower at 67%. That is, we are a country that is rapidly becoming more expensive and at the same time citizens do not have money to shop”noted Nikos Androulakis.
He said that the Council points out the existence of oligopolies in health, energy, food, banks. “The ear of the government does not sweat. Because Mr. Mitsotakis’ priority is to get along well with all of them. The government’s indolence cannot be explained in any other way,” said the president of PASOK-KINAL.
Referring to the stakes of the European elections, Mr. Androulakis underlined that “on June 9, there must be a force of disapproval in a system of power that prioritizes the service of the oligarchs and not the Greek people”.
PASOK will be on the winning side
“On election night, PASOK will once once more be on the winning side. It will be the party that will have increased its percentages more than all the others – remember that – both in relation to the previous European elections and in relation to the previous national elections. Again, PASOK will show a steady rise and I’m sure because I see it in society” he added, while regarding the electoral goal of PASOK-Movement for Change, Mr. Androulakis emphasized:
“However, I set a bigger goal. Our country needs a strong, serious and credible official opposition to face the arrogance, corruption and lack of empathy for the real social problems of Mr. Mitsotakis’ system of power”
The three initiatives of PASOK
PASOK “undertook three initiatives: One in the wiretapping, one in Tempi and one in the municipal elections and we managed three of the biggest blows the ruling party has suffered in the last 5 years. PASOK has a way of defeating New Democracy. So, a strong democratic faction will force New Democracy to change its trope” remarked the president of PASOK-Movement of Change while noting:
“New Democracy is favored by Mr. Kasselakis and Mr. Velopoulos. Because instead of responding to existing social problems, it responds to wax, conspiracy theories. You know how easy it is, when we table a motion of no confidence, for Mr. Kasselakis to come out and say “it’s another cockfight”, discrediting it. Is this not a help to Mr. Mitsotakis? Secondly, is it possible for one to go out and sell letters of Jesus and the other to claim that a miracle happened at his baptism?’
Against the background of the upcoming meeting of the Greek Prime Minister with the Turkish President as well as the challenges of the Turkish side, the president of PASOK-Movement of Change emphasized: “It is good to discuss with Turkey, I do not disagree. But let’s keep in the back of our minds that Mr. Erdogan’s priority is his survival.”
Referring to Thessaloniki, the president of PASOK-Movement of Change pointed out that the citizens of the city are suffering a lot with the construction of the flyover as the government has chosen a distorted prioritization of the projects.
Regarding the exhibition spaces, Mr. Androulakis noted: “Do we want this space to have some characteristics that give the city the possibility to have more greenery, more entertainment infrastructure that will facilitate everyday life? Because, if the exhibition is used correctly together with an intervention on the beach front – beyond the east and the west -, the whole quality of life of the citizens of Thessaloniki will directly change. It is a discussion that, if we do it seriously and structured, will bring results”.
