Indonesian DPR member TB Hasanuddin said that the 79th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) should be a reminder to improve the welfare of soldiers.
He considered that welfare would influence the level of discipline of TNI soldiers on duty. With soldier discipline, the protection of the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia will also be guaranteed.
“With sufficient welfare, God willing, they will think about being prepared to provide protection and protect this country that we love,” said Hasanuddin in Jakarta, today.
As a representative of the people, the retired TNI Major General ensured that he would pay attention to the welfare of soldiers, one of which was related to housing. If you have a residence or dormitory that is in the same complex as other soldiers, then the soldiers’ discipline will also be affected.

“This really affects discipline, rather than boarding far away and so on,” he said.
Apart from that, something that needs to be highlighted is also related to educational guarantees for the families of TNI soldiers. Don’t let it happen, he said, that there are children of TNI soldiers who drop out of school.
“Then we also have to pay attention to their health,” he said.

The member of Commission I DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period said that the things that had been achieved by the soldiers regarding professionalism, discipline and the quality of the main equipment of the defense system (alutsista) needed to continue to be maintained and their capabilities improved.
However, he also did not deny that there were still members of the TNI who had problems with discipline. According to him, officers who lead TNI soldiers must also play a very important role in monitoring potential disciplinary violations.
“Especially regarding the criminal level, why do I call it criminal? Because like fights, violations of discipline, the role of first officers must be re-emphasized,” he said.
The peak event commemorating the 79th anniversary of the TNI will be held on Saturday, October 5 2024. The celebration will take place at Silang Monas, Jakarta. (Ant/P-2)
