The American actor, Leo Balter, passed away at the age of 94, whom the audience knew in an unforgettable scene in the famous movie “Titanic”, during the sinking of the ship and the leakage of water into its hollow, and days following the explosion of the submarine “Titan” on a journey to explore the wreckage of the sunken ship.

The New York Post reported that his daughter, Katherine, died of lung cancer, which he suffered from for many years.

In the 1997 film, Balter played the character of the German-American businessman, co-owner of the American chain of “Macy’s” stores, Isidore Strauss, with his wife Ida.

Although his role in the film is short, it was influential because of his humanitarian stance when he refused to board the lifeboat, making room for the women and children on board, and his wife refused to leave and preferred to stay with him.

Balter was a familiar TV face, having appeared in numerous dramas, comedies and police series, including “The Flying Nun”, “Columbo”, “The Brady Bunch”, “Hill Street Blues” and “LA Law”. He played a Supreme Court judge in the comedy-drama First Monday in October in 1981.
