Titan Sinking: New Footage From Submerged Submarine – Chilling Images

The eerie underwater video, released by the US Coast Guard, shows the wreckage of the submarine on the sea floor after the explosion last June less than two hours after it descended towards the wreck of the Titanic, killing five people.

Earlier this week, a report revealed that one of the last messages from the crew on Titan was “all is well here.”

The new video comes as David Lochridge, OceanGate’s former operations manager, said he was disappointed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s decision not to pursue the complaint.

“I believe that if OSHA had tried to investigate the seriousness of the concerns that I raised several times, this tragedy may have been prevented,” he said while speaking before a panel trying to determine what caused the Titan explosion.

“As a seafarer, I am deeply disappointed by the system that is meant to protect not only seafarers but the general public as well.”

Lohridge said during his deposition that eight months after he filed a complaint with OSHA, a case worker told him the agency had not yet begun investigating it and that there were 11 cases before him. By then, OceanGate had sued Lochridge and countersued.

About 10 months after she filed the complaint, she decided to leave. The case was closed and both lawsuits were dropped.

“I didn’t give them anything, they didn’t give me anything,” he said of OceanGate.

Earlier in the day, Lochridge said he often clashed with the company’s co-founder and felt the company was only committed to making money.

Lochridge was one of the most anticipated witnesses to appear before a committee. His testimony echoed that of other former employees Monday, one of whom described OceanGate chief Stockton Rush as volatile and difficult to work with.

“The whole idea behind the company was to make money,” Lochridge said. “There was very little in the way of science.”
