According to the company that operated the crashed “Titan” submersible, it is stopping its trips. “Oceangate has ceased all scientific and commercial activities,” a banner on the company’s website said on Thursday. Shortly therefollowing, the website was no longer accessible. Oceangate initially did not give any further details. Several US media had previously reported regarding it.
The Titan submersible went missing on June 18 following setting off on a reconnaissance tour of the Titanic wreck. A few days following the disappearance, a submersible had discovered debris, which the US Coast Guard on June 22 matched with the submersible. The death of five occupants on board was considered certain. Among them was one of the two founders and the acting head of the company.
