Hans Peter Doskozil programmatically looks to the center right. The new SPÖ chairman wants to rule on the left
Innsbruck (OTS) – The SPÖ delegates have opted for a down-to-earth program with Peter Doskozil.
Andreas Babler was the louder and more pathetic. In the end, however, the delegates at the SPÖ party conference in Linz decided in favor of Hans Peter Doskozil as party leader and top candidate. He had advertised with tangible and pragmatic points, very concrete: building a house, care and a wage from which one can live. Instead of visions and social democratic dreams, he emphasizes implementation. With the SPÖ, he wants to win over those voters who have said goodbye to the FPÖ in recent decades.
He will also need these people. Because Doskozil programmatically looks to the center right. After the next National Council election, he wants to govern on the left. He excluded the FPÖ and ÖVP as partners, with very clear words.
Stay green and NEOS, so the traffic light. However, this has never had a majority in National Council elections. The last time it almost went out was in 1995. Instead of NEOS, there was Heide Schmidt’s Liberal Forum.
A lot to do for the new chairman and his party. This showed a strong sign of life in Linz. Of the 609 delegates, 603 came to Upper Austria. Conciliatory tones dominated both the speeches of the two candidates and the comments of the delegates. No fight once morest the other camp, but appeals for togetherness.
Doskozil has to take this momentum with it. He will only succeed if he makes a concrete offer to Babler and his camp and does not leave them disappointed. Otherwise, the red attack on the right center fails before it has really started.
