Innsbruck (OTS) Tolerance and self-determination are the concerns of the rainbow parade. What should be taken for granted meets with resistance. In the big as in the small. It becomes dangerous when propagandists play with uncertainty.

The last night owls probably let the rainbow parade end when the chief of police and the head of state security appeared in front of the media in Vienna. They reported that they had prevented an Islamist attack on the Festival of Tolerance. Two young men, Austrians with a migration background, wanted to spread fear and terror at the Pride.
The police and state security arrested the trio in good time. A woman who was beaten to the point of hospitalization in Vienna City on Saturday had none of it. Five men had scolded homosexuals and attacked her and her companion. These men fled undetected. Did they also have a Muslim background? Was it right-wing extremists or drunks who felt strong in the group?
Rarely do two events and their causes resemble each other. Nevertheless, a look at society is necessary. She moves at different speeds. Some are fighting for their rights. They take self-determination for granted. You should and may do that. You don’t bother or disturb anyone.
The neighbor – is it the majority? – it’s all going too fast. They have learned that there are men and women – and nothing in between. They no longer understand the life plans behind LBGTIQ+. Many would be helped if you took them with you on the road. And as is so often the case here, too, it is evident that the best way to break down prejudices is through personal contacts. No one can bring regarding tolerance as lastingly as a gay grandchild or a lesbian daughter.
And then there are those who play with the insecurity of the many and make politics. FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl has protested once morest the lighting of parliament in the rainbow colors of the queer community. He does not incite violence. But he feeds the narrative that being queer equates to dubious propaganda and moral danger to children.
Some immigrant communities go at their own pace. The three terrorist suspects, more boys than men, must have been living in Austria with their families for a long time. Otherwise they would not have citizenship. You probably went to school here too. Nevertheless, they can obviously do little with other life plans.
Every violent criminal and terrorist becomes one himself, no one is forced. But it is also a failure of school and society if tolerance is not practiced and taught.
