Innsbruck, Vienna (OTS) Hamas’s sole goal was to massacre Jews. She doesn’t care regarding the Palestinian population. But how to deal with it? Waving flags is tantamount to saying goodbye to the achievements of civilization.

Stunned. And this word is a far understatement when you consider the brutality with which the Islamist Hamas indiscriminately executed children, women, men and the elderly on Saturday in Kibbutz Be’eri. It was an act of barbarism how Hamas shot, beheaded or kidnapped young music-loving people at a rave party in the Negev desert.
After the Shoah, the Jews experience another tragedy. Of all places, in the country that was created following National Socialism to prevent such a catastrophe from ever happening to the Jewish population once more. And now the Israeli population had to bitterly learn: Jews can be executed indiscriminately in their own state. It must have been like a pogrom for the people of Israel.
Anyone who does not have empathetic feelings towards the Israeli civilian population in view of these images, or who waves the flag of Palestine or even Hamas in this country, is saying goodbye to all civilizational achievements. A political fiasco. Because the Islamist Hamas has very little or nothing to do with the politics of the PLO, but a lot to do with the Islamic State. While Fatah, as the dominant force in the PLO, wanted to establish an independent democratic state alongside Israel, Hamas pursued the goal of destroying Israel in order to be able to proclaim an Islamic state. They will not achieve the goal, but they will continue their slaughter with holy warriors. She doesn’t care at all regarding the survival of the Palestinian civilian population.
The Israeli government now once once more has a crucial role to play. It will reduce the Gaza Strip, a prison built by Israel for two million people, to rubble. This is what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced when he said: “Our enemy will pay a price the likes of which he has never known.”
So should we then wave Israeli flags when the streets are paved with dead children, women, men and the elderly during a hail of bombs on Gaza during an expected ground offensive? That would make us roommates in a pandemonium, a place full of horrors. To philosophize regarding any solution in the face of this tragedy that has been going on in the Middle East for decades is probably more than just naive. But this should not prevent us from speaking out when innocent people have to pay the price for these policies of both.
