Back pain during pregnancy is a common problem. Weight gain, changes in the center of gravity, and hormones loosen the ligaments in your pelvic joints. However, oftentimes, you can prevent or relieve back pain during pregnancy.

The two doctors, chiropractors, Dr. Yahya Raslan, consultant gynecologist and obstetrician, and Dr. Bassima Jabr, referred to the most important daily habits that should be followed to relieve back pain during pregnancy.

Dr. Raslan said that walking is one of the best habits, especially in the first months of pregnancy. Because it helps the pregnancy to continue without complications, swimming is also a very important sport, but these habits differ from one woman to another.

While Dr. Bassima mentioned that some hormonal changes and incorrect postures made by pregnant women increase back pain.

Regarding when a pregnant woman should see a chiropractor, Dr. Raslan explained that when several symptoms appear, the most important of which are lower back and pelvic pain, and sometimes these pains are transmitted to men, and when they increase in certain positions, a chiropractor should be visited.

The doctor noted that when the pain increases significantly, the cause must be diagnosed, as this has to do with pressure on the nerves due to a herniated disc caused by the weight of the child, which increases the mother’s weight, this leads to excruciating pain and the method of treatment is during pregnancy by returning the cartilage to its place.

Finally, the most important advice given by the two doctors to pregnant women is not to sleep or lie on the back because it is one of the habits that cause back pain.
