“Tinder Scammer” Got Scammed in Real Life

For a few weeks now, Netflix Hosts ‘The Tinder Scammer’ Documentary, which looks back on a man, Simon Leviev, wanted by the courts in several countries, who seduced young women on the famous dating application to defraud them of millions. In total, the young man would have managed to extract around 10 million dollars from his victims.

The Tinder scammer… scammed!

However, the site TMZ claims that this modern-day scammer has in turn been… cheated. Simon Leviev would indeed have been contacted by a young woman on Instagram, having an account certified by the platform. No intimate relationship in sight here, but the promise to give the young man a certified account on Instagram.

This one has indeed claimed that she would be able to help Simon and his girlfriend Kate Konlin to have a verified account on Instagram, through her fiancé, employee of Meta (owner of Instagram) . This however, once morest the exchange of a few thousand dollars. A bargain for “the tinder scammer” who did not hesitate to spend $6,000 (in two separate transactions via PayPal) to benefit from the little blue badge.

It was only later that Simon Leviev’s team learned that it was not possible to pay to have an Instagram account certified, and that the Tinder scammer had in turn been… scammed. Note that the Instagram platform lists very (very) many fake accounts bearing the image of Simon Leviev.

Remember that on Instagram (or even Facebook, Twitter…), having your account certified cannot be done in exchange for any amount of money. So be careful, and even if the little blue badge has been eyeing you for yearsif you are offered to glean the latter for a sum of money, it is a scam.
