Los Angeles (USA), Jul 15 (EFE).- The movie star Timothée Chalamet (‘Dune’) will star in ‘Marty Supreme’, a biopic inspired by table tennis player Marty Reisman, who died in December 2012, the American production company A24 reported on Monday.
Details of the film, written by Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, are still unknown, although in the image shared by A24 on its social media to announce Chalamet’s participation, a white golf ball can be seen with the phrase ‘Made In America’ inscribed on it.
According to the specialist magazine Variety, the feature film will focus on Reisman, known as “the magician of table tennis” and one of the most recognized personalities in this sport.
Reisman began his career as a hustler in Manhattan and went on to win 22 major titles in the sport between 1946 and 2002, including five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships.
At age 67, he competed in the US National Hardbat Championships and became the oldest player to win an open national competition in a racquet sport.
The American sports legend published his own biography in 1974, titled ‘The money player: The confessions of America’s greatest table tennis champion and hustler’.
Chalamet will also star in the biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’, a film that will follow the life of singer-songwriter and 2016 Nobel Prize winner for Literature, Bob Dylan, which still has no release date.
